I have some machine-monitoring-cameras in our company that we use to view machining-centers. It is purchased as a security camera system, but is not being used for that.We could view the cameras on the local intranet in Windows XP, WITHOUT having to be an administrator. The internet address, within the building is likeIn windows 7 pro, 64 bit, the viewing system does NOT work for anyone who does not have administrator rights.

Install activex control windows 7

I do NOT want to give everyone in our company, administrator rights just to view the cameras.I have installed Windows XP-mode. Using this, people can view the cameras.

I do not like this solution. In the windows 7 world, I have (as a test) enabled EVERYTHING related to ActiveX in the Internet options for: Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites and Restricted-sites. The address has also been placed in the Trusted Sites list. I haveUN-ENABLED Protected Mode on ALL of the above. It still does not work.

Also, UAC has been placed at the lowest setting. The add-ons being downloaded is called 'ActiveViewGUI Control', and 'ActiveView Control'. The controls DO show-up in the Manage Add-ons area, and ARE Enabled. As a User or Power-user, I end up with the background only, and none of the buttons, logon/logoff. Items necessary to do the viewing are present. There are no error-messages. It just does not work.If I add this user to the administrator's group, then everything works fine!Would anyone have an idea as to how I could get this to work for a non-administrator user in Windows 7? Hi,Please try installing that ActiveX directly using normal user account.

Is it successful? I wonder the exact symptom.Does IE provide ActiveX installation? Or it does install properly, but the camara doesn't work.?Yes, I see the page. It says, 'You need to have Administrator credentials on your PC, and UAC disabled if you are using Windows Vista' Have you completely disable the UAC for a try? In addition, it provides a reg fix for configuring security settings. Thanks, BrianPlease remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I think that my very-first-post answered all of the questions you have asked here! The reg-fix file (which was for Vista) did not work, even though, as my first post said, I am dealing with Windows-7.My real thought, in the post giving the link to SecurityCameraWorld, was that if someone was working on a Windows-7 computer, you could go to that site as Administratorand see it work as Administrator. THEN, as a USER-account, go to the same site, and see it fail. Then you could ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE what I am seeing, and probably have no more questions for me, as to how it is failing! The page you suggested applies to Windows Vista.I am using windows 7 pro, 64 bit.If I try what is said on that page anyway, I see'Change UAC Settings'Launch'then this gets me to the same page I am going to inWindows 7 Pro 64 bit, that has a slider, that I have alreadyset to 'Never Notify'.Since you are actually attempting to answer my question, I was justwondering if you have a Windows 7 computer, and have actually usedthe links in my previous posts to the Camera Website to see the error Iam seeing? I really believe, 'seeing is believe-ing', and possible solutionsyou may suggest, can probably easily be tested on your very-own-computer! Well, i'm still using Vista at home.my bad.I tried using a normal user account with process monitor capture.(UAC is disabled). It throws out Access Denied error when IE tried to install under SYSTEM32 folder.

If the add-in does require admin permission to write to some place, it cannot be configurefrom Microsoft side.As for a workaround, you could use Admin login and install the add-in. It takes effect for all the users. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. As for a workaround'. Above.I can, as administrator, go to the site and see the camerasjust fine. If I then, on the same computer, login as a USER,I will fail to see the cameras. If something is supposed to.' Takes effect for all the users. '., as you say above, thenthis must NOT be happening. If I could actually 'do something, as administrator', on eachcomputer, so the USER could view the cameras, this would be fine. But, I have failed to be able to make this happen!Maybe you could explain, in detail, your, 'workaround', asto how you (?) DID get it to work (?) on your computer!((( Or, did you NOT get it to work? )))(( Is your 'workaround' a guess?
